Control of fluid loss is essential to the successful operation of mechanical equipment used in fluid handling. Various methods are utilized to control leakage at shafts, rods or valve stems and other functional parts of equipment requiring containment of liquids and gases.
Compression packing is the oldest and still the most common mean of controlling fluid loss in mechanical equipment. Made from relatively soft, pliant materials, they find major use in rotary centrifugal and reciprocating pumps valves, expansion joints and many other types of mechanical equipment.
Most common types of compression packing products include Twisted Non-Asbestos Valve Steam Packing, Square Braided Non-Asbestos Pump Packing , PTFE Impregnated Non-Asbestos Square Braided Packing, Flax Packing – Regular, PTFE Filament Packing, Kevlar Pump Packing, Expanded Graphite Packing, Special Braid PTFE Filament with Encapsulated Graphite and PTFE Filament Gasket Tape.
