Darco Southern offers a variety of Fiberglass (Tetraglas®), Silica (Tetraglas 3000®) and Ceramic Rope products. Each provides unique physical characteristics and sealing performance. Common applications for high temperature ropes include seals for boilers, ovens and stoves as well as high temperature industrial packing and expansion joints. Even at elevated temperatures the fiberglass, silica and ceramic ropes are resistant to most acids and alkalis.
For custom rope solutions, our vertically integrated manufacturing and engineering capabilities allow us to design, prototype and produce the optimal product, in the minimal timeframe. In collaboration with your team, we review your application and create a tailored high temperature rope to solve your specific design challenge. Ask us about the Darco Southern 4D Process!

Darco Southern’s Tetraglas® rope is constructed of high-quality Type E fiberglass yarns. Available in knitted soft and dense, twisted, and square braided rope forms. Tetraglas® rope is highly flexible and conformable while maintaining a continuous operating temperature up to 1000°F (540°C). Most Tetraglas® ropes can be coated with vermiculite, PTFE, or graphite. Stainless steel wire mesh jacket can be added to increase abrasion resistance.
Silicone-coated Fiberglass Rope
Silco Rope® is produced by coating our fiberglass rope with a layer of high-grade silicone elastomer. The silicone coating provides enhanced sealing performance, with the additional benefit of protecting the underlying fiberglass rope from oils and other contaminants. Silco Rope is suitable for applications with continuous temperatures up to 500°F (260°C). Standard color is iron oxide red.
Silica (Tetraglas 3000®) rope is constructed of amorphous silica yarns. Available in knitted, twisted, and square braided rope forms. Tetraglas 3000® rope will not burn and is suitable for use in continuous temperatures to 1800°F (980°C).
Darco Southern’s Ceramic fiber rope supports the highest continuous operating temperature at 2300°F (1260°C). Ceramic fiber rope possesses excellent chemical stability as well as strong corrosion and thermal shock resistance. Available in knitted, twisted, and square braided rope forms.
